GT Asia: Yeongam, Race Reports

Here’s yet another 2014 Race Series making its DSC debut – With a great looking grid, big name teams and a sprinkling of European Pros GT Asia will be well worth following. – James Goodwinreports

Round 1 of the GT Asia series saw the teams competing at the Korea international circuit in Yeongam. A track with a long back straight, fast sweeping corners and a tight twisty ‘stadium section’, a test for the many drivers getting used to their cars for the first time.

With nine different marques in the GT3 class this is yet another championship benefitting from the popularity of the GT3 formula. Add to that another 9 season entrants in the GTM cup class for Supercup/challenge cars, the grid looks to be a very healthy one.

This week was a busy and demanding one for Natasha Seatter as she travelled to Korea for her GT Asia debut, and the young Malaysian certainly didn’t let the daunting task overshadow her weekend, instead powering through in the most professional manner and proving on the track that she is a force to be reckoned with.

Asia’s number one female race driver, Natasha Seatter, has teamed up with one of Asia’s most successful GT teams, Craft-Bamboo Racing, for the season opener of the GT Asia Series at the Korean International Circuit.

 

Natasha, driving in car #99 with Korean driver Tacksung Kim, speaks of her debut race in the GT Asia Series,“I’m extremely excited about racing in the opening round of the GT Asia Series in Korea for Craft-Bamboo Racing. GT Asia is a new direction for me and I find that I am enjoying the experience.

“The team is great and my teammate, Tack, is a good driver and we get along pretty well. It is just our first day but we are doing quite well and we are looking optimistic of the weekend”

Formula Gulf 1000: Seatter continues winning form

Malaysian driver Natasha Seatter made it six race wins in a row following victories in Rounds 5 and 6 of the Formula Gulf 1000 Championship at Dubai Autodrome over the weekend.

 

The 19-year-old began Round 5 from the second row after Spaniard Nick Canal had secured pole position with a blistering lap of 2:02.366, a full second quicker than second fastest driver Rahul Mayer, 16, of Malaysia.

Seatter storms to victory, but Bintouq leads the way on points

 

Mother nature tried her hardest to scupper the first event of the 2012/13 Formula Gulf 1000 Championship, and with a very water logged circuit after storms through the night it didn’t look good! However the decision was made by the Dubai Autodrome management to switch the event to the less soggy Club Circuit and play got underway just after eleven in the morning

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Super Series (MSS) car competition will enter its final round at the Sepang International Circuit this weekend with the premier GT class championship going down to the wire.

 

Only 16 points separate Hong Kong-based Angus Kirkwood and local girl Natasha Seatter in the race for the GT class crown.

Kirkwood leads the standings with 76 points, with Natasha having 60. Another Hong Kong-based driver, Noel Becker, is third with 41 points after four rounds.

Natasha racer bids for first MSS win with her father

PETALING JAYA: Beaten to second place in the opening round in March, Natasha Nur Ida Adam Seatter, dubbed as the fastest lady in Asia, will have on-track parental support as she joins forces with veteran Stewart Seatter in search of her first win in the Malaysian Super Series (MSS) at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) this weekend.

 

Round 2 features an endurance race with a two-driver format and Natasha has found a perfect driving partner in her father, who used to compete regularly in the MSS as well as the Asia Classic Car Challenge, previously known as Hong Kong Classic Car Series.

PETALING JAYA: There will be Malaysian interest in the Formula One Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai this weekend as young female talent Natasha Seatter has secured a race seat with reigning Porsche Carrera Cup Asia champions PICC Team StarChase.

 

Regular team driver Alexandre Imperatori is contesting in the Silverstone round of the FIA World Endurance Championship in preparation for his debut in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans in June

Largest Lotus Gathering at Screening of The Host

In conjunction with the screening of the movie “The Host”, which features the Chrome Lotus Evora, Lotus Cars Malaysia with the support of Lotus Owners Club, and in collaboration with the movie distributor Nusantara Edaran Filem Sdn Bhd held the largest ever gathering of Lotus cars in Malaysia.

 

A total of 70 various Lotus models gathered at the Lotus Flagship Showroom & Centre in Sg. Penchala before heading to the screening in a convoy led by a Chrome Lotus Evora driven by Natasha Seatter, a Malaysian racing sensation.

Natasha Seatter wins Formula Gulf Open Championship

Eurasia graduate Natasha Seatter won the Overall Drivers Championship, the Gulfsport Trophy, in the final round of the series held at Dubai this week. The title went down to the line, fastest race lap giving the point required to take the championship from Rahul Mayer and Nick Canal. Stewart Seatter, Natasha’s ever supportive father remarked “The Eurasia team are a big part of Natasha’s success today. She has indeed been fortunate with her learning curve.”

Natasha aims to zoom ahead of male rivals

NATASHA Seatter, who is making her debut in the Malaysian Super Series as the sole lady driver on the grid at the Sepang F1 race weekend, has set a firm target for glory over her male rivals in the national series.

The second night of Mercedes – Benz STYLO Fashion Grand Prix 2013 saw not just a fashion showcase but also a sneak preview on the all new Mercedes “A” Class. It was driven into the ballroom by the first Malaysian female Formula One test driver, Natasha Seatter, in a fun twist surrounded by “Barbie doll” models. The car is due to be fully launched later this year.

In possibly the most exciting race since the start of this junior single seater series, 18 year old Natasha Seatter caught and passed Championship leader Joe Ghanem (Orient Racing) to win Round 10 of Formula Gulf 1000 setting fastest lap of the race in the process.
