Largest Lotus Gathering at Screening of The Host

09/04/2013

In conjunction with the screening of the movie “The Host”, which features the Chrome Lotus Evora, Lotus Cars Malaysia with the support of Lotus Owners Club, and in collaboration with the movie distributor Nusantara Edaran Filem Sdn Bhd held the largest ever gathering of Lotus cars in Malaysia.

A total of 70 various Lotus models gathered at the Lotus Flagship Showroom & Centre in Sg. Penchala before heading to the screening in a convoy led by a Chrome Lotus Evora driven by Natasha Seatter, a Malaysian racing sensation.

Upon arrival at Pavillion KL, the array of Lotus models were then parked and displayed outside of the super mall along the pavement of Jalan Bukit Bintang.

The convoy drivers were welcomed by executive chairman of Proton Holdings Berhad and chairman of Group Lotus Dato’ Sri Mohd Khamil Jamil and wife, Datin Sri Azian Abd Talib, accompanied by members of Proton and DRB-HICOM management team.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad also dropped by to see the Chrome Lotus Evora and meet the Lotus owners.

Dato’ Sri Khamil expressed his excitement about the response and comitment by the Lotus owners in making the gathering possible, and said the program is part of their continuous engagement program with the owners.

“They are our brand ambassadors and their driving experience testimonials are proof of the Lotus cars performance,” he said.

He added that the movie provided a good opportunity for Lotus to be brought back into the limelight.

“The dynamic driving scenes and the presence of the Evora in the movie will mark yet another Hollywood showcase of our car, with the Chrome Lotus Evora taking its place alongside previous exciting, famous movie moments involving Lotus cars,” he commented.

The Lotus has previously appeared in two Bond movies, ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ as the submersible Esprit and ‘For Your Eyes Only’, ‘Pretty Woman’ and ‘Basic Instinct’.

Treated in a chrome vinyl wrap and fitted with special-effect lighting, the Evoras in ‘The Host’ were driven by the antagonists.

Negotiations for a “hero car” for the movie started in early October 2011 and by the end of the month Lotus had agreed to provide a number of Evoras to the project directed by its screenwriter Andrew Niccol who was looking for an extraordinary car for the role.

The Lotus Evora was chosen for its stunning and futuristic aesthetic which, when juxtaposed with contemporary locations, gave a truly alien element to the sci-fi movie.
