In sweltering conditions in the south of France Sunday 22 July morning, Zimbabwean teenager Axcil Jefferies lined up for his fourth event of the year.

One of the spin-offs of Axcil's Formula 2 season was being featured in a fast growing PC game called RFactor2 being developed by Image Space Incorporated. Jefferies Makes Waves

Following almost a seven-month-long hiatus, young Zimbabwean motor racing driver Axcil Jefferies got back behind the wheel in style in his debut appearance in the American Indy Lights racing at Mid-Ohio, United States, at the weekend. A revitalised Jefferies (19), partnered with Starting Grid Inc, American Honda and Bryan Herta Autosport Team, drove brilliantly in the weekend's race to take a credible seventh place as he sent a clear message out that he is really one for the future.

He was piloting BHA's No.28 Dallara/Firestone, sponsored by Starting Grid Inc. Starting Grid Inc has been the facilitator of a motorsports diversity initiative in partnership with American Honda.

ZIMBABWE’S teenage motor racing sensation Axcil Jefferies will once again be flying the Zimbabwean flag, as he hits the streets of Houston in Texas, United States, this weekend.

In what will be Jefferies’ second event in The Indy Lights series this year and his  first street race since 2009 where he raced around the streets of Macau in China, the talented Zimbabwean driver will have his work cut out.

Axcil hits the Streets of Houston

ZIMBABWE’S “Young Gun” and Formula One racing hopeful Axcil Jefferies once again showed his mettle and inner strength to finish fifth overall on the streets of Houston, Texas, in the United States at the weekend. The result is all the more sweeter; as not only did Jefferies conquer the treacherous streets of Houston but overcame some very questionable officialdom.

Axcil Jefferies finishes Fifth

Young Zimbabwean Axcil Jefferies made history yet again, by joining the GP2 Series for the official GP2 Pre-season testing in Abu Dhabi and Bahrain. Axcil joined Italian team Trident Motorsport for the two tests. The GP2 series is the final step before Formula 1 and is the best place for any young driver with the hopes of graduating to Formula 1, as it follows 11 of the Formula 1 events as a support category and is watched and followed by all the Formula 1 Team bosses/ owners.

 

Jefferies was thrown into the deep end in Abu Dhabi, at the Yas Marina circuit on the 11th, 12th and 13th of March. But the African F1 hopeful...

Axcil Jefferies impresses in GP2 Debut

Axcil Jefferies will head to Bahrain this week to take part in the first race on the GP2 calendar in Bahrain on the 4th-6th of April. As they did in the pre-season testing, Italian team Trident Motorsport will run Axcil Jefferies yet again. “This is such a great opportunity for me and my country. It’s something I’ve been dreaming and focusing on for the last two years, so for it to finally become a reality is one of the best feelings!

 

I obviously have goals heading into the weekend, but ultimately I aim to learn as much as possible and soak up all the new experiences... 

Axcil heads for Bahrain Opener

This past weekend, Axcil Jefferies made history by becoming the first Zimbabwean and only African to represent the continent in the feeder series to Formula 1, GP2, in Bahrain on the 4th-6th of April.

 

The first round was always going to be a steep learning curve, but Jefferies went with the right menality of just trying to learn and get as much seat time as possible. On Friday Axcil reacquainted himself with his 612bhp GP2 car as he worked with the team to try and find the optimum set up for qualifying. The session was run on the Orange set of Pirelli's, the harder compound of the two sets that Pirelli selected for the GP2 openener.
